Pride Month

Event Ideas:
Pride Month

  • Organize a Pride Parade in your park, followed by a LGBTQ+ film festival showcasing movies that promote diversity and inclusion. Provide resources for LGBTQ+ support and host discussions on LGBTQ+ rights and acceptance.
  • Organize educational workshops and panels that address LGBTQ+ issues and promote awareness and acceptance. Topics can include LGBTQ+ history, gender and sexuality education, LGBTQ+ mental health, or LGBTQ+ rights. Invite guest speakers, professors or experts to facilitate these discussions before or after a movie screening.
  • Arrange a drag show featuring local drag performers. Provide a stage, lighting and sound system for the performers to showcase their talents and express themselves before or after your movie screening.

Event Ideas:
World Oceans Day

June 8th

  • Host a dive-in movie screening at a community pool. Before the movie, raise awareness around marine conservation and ways attendees can help.
  • Give your community the opportunity to deepen their understanding with educational seminars and workshops. You can feature topics such as marine biology, ocean conservation or ocean photography. Documentaries are a great way to enhance this type of programming, especially when paired with a post-show Q&A with a marine biologist or other experts in the field.

Event Ideas:
Juneteenth

June 19th

  • Celebrate African-American history and freedom with cultural performances, poetry readings and panel discussions on racial equality. Screen films that highlight the significance of Juneteenth and its historical context.
  • Set up educational exhibitions that showcase the history and significance of Juneteenth before or after a movie screening. Display historical documents, photographs and artifacts that tell the story of emancipation and the struggle for civil rights. Collaborate with history departments, libraries or local museums to gather resources and create an informative and engaging display.
  • Host a panel discussion or community dialogue on topics related to African-American history, racial justice and the significance of Juneteenth before or after your movie screening. Invite professors, guest speakers or local activists to facilitate the conversation. Provide opportunities for attendees to ask questions and engage in thoughtful discussions.
