There’s so much to celebrate during the warm summer months, but it’s also one of the busiest times onboard your ships. Which is why movie programming is perfect for keeping your guests entertained, without too much planning or added stress. Below, find our top movie event ideas for creating engaging programming for every celebration and guests onboard your ships this summer.

Fireworks don’t have to be the only show at your Fourth of July celebration. Spotlight one of these patriotic or Independence Day-themed films to spark a night your entire community will never forget. Include a friendly competition or two at your screening, like Fourth of July-themed trivia.  Feature questions about the American Revolution and the Declaration of Independence. Have a number of different sections going simultaneously so the competition is separated out by age group, like kids, teens and adults. Or, have families compete against one another.

Playoff classic summer camps with a Camp Classic Movie Series featuring hits like “Daddy Day Camp,” “The Parent Trap,” or “Camp Rock 2.” Lots of these films end with a dramatic tournament. Consider giving families onboard the chance to work together by creating fun challenges for them to compete in before the show, like a hot dog eating contest, stacking contest or race.

Encourage kids and teens to read while onboard by hosting a book-to-movie series all summer long. Simply pick a book for each age group to read on all your voyages, then screen the corresponding film toward the end of the trip! Consider including a fun add-on that pairs with each featured story, like DIY bunny ear craft before “Peter Rabbit” or a Foolish fashion show before “House of Gucci.”

Create epic summer programming with a superhero-themed dive-in series onboard your ships. Before the screening, host organized superhero-themed pool games. Ideas include a hero-inspired dive tournament, timed rescue operations or see who can make the biggest splash of all with a cannonball contest.
