The Rock’s ‘Black Adam’ Is No. 1

Over the weekend, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson earned a career-best movie opening as a leading man. DC Films & Warner Bros. “Black Adams” pulled in $67 million domestically and over $140 million globally. These figures were the best for an opening weekend since July.
The film is a comic book adaptation of the titular superhero’s origin story. Also known as Teth-Adam, his powers include flight, superhuman strength, accelerated healing, enhanced speed and the ability to shoot lightning.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, the film’s supporting cast includes Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone.
The superhero flick currently has a 90 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes – the highest for a DC movie in over a decade. The London Evening Standard said the film is, “bold, stylish, involving and witty…” while Collider called it “adrenaline-fueled” and a “game changer.”
