Mix Up Your Viewing Experience
In response to COVID-19, we're temporarily offering an alternate viewing option that allows you to continue to safely share the magic of movies with your community. Read on to learn more!
Our annual public performance site license only covers movie showings inside the library. However, in response to COVID-19, we are making an exception this year to allow our library customers to show certain films as part of an outdoor or drive-up style movie event on library property. Even better, there is no additional fee for this type of showing as long as you have an annual public performance site license through Swank! Plus, find ideas for keeping outdoor movie events engaging below.
Interactive Trivia
Test patrons’ knowledge of your featured film before the show! Use an online trivia software so you can display the questions and answers in real-time on your screen, while attendees use their phones to send in answers!
Get Active
Patrons might be moving less than before, so find ways to incorporate a bit of physical activity into your movie events! Ideas include hosting a virtual fun run for a “Sonic the Hedgehog” feature or sending out a “Train Like Schwarzenegger” workout plan for when they watch “Terminator: Dark Fate.”
Social Challenge
Keep your community connected with an event-branded social media challenge to go along with all your events, like inviting patrons to post a pic of their “gang” using a specific hashtag to celebrate your “Scoob!” showing.
Movie B-I-N-G-O
Create custom BINGO sheets based on your chosen film, then have participants tag you in a pic of their completed card on social media!
In-Person Showings
For libraries that are now starting to open their libraries in some capacity, we hope the ideas featured in this publication will help spark some social distance friendly programming ideas for you and your staff! And, as always, please reach out if we can further assist you in any way.
