Synopsis

In the mid-2000s, Wall Street was booming, with record high bonuses, multimillion-dollar salaries and a rising housing market. But in 2008, it all came crashing down. By the fall, the U.S. financial system, after years of deregulation, was in a free fall with subprime mortgages and predatory lending at the root of the cause. Despite the warning signs, no one believed financial institutions were at risk. As the market tumbled further and further, it became clear that the banks were too big to fail and threatened to create a global meltdown unlike anything seen before.
