April Movie Programming
We’re so excited to be a part of your school programming calendar! There’s no limit to how our movie license can be used in your school to further engage students and their families. Find some of our top picks for pairing new releases and throwback hits with obvious – and not-so-obvious – holiday celebrations below.
Family Engagement:
National Tell-a-Story Day
(April 27)
Before your screening, have attendees form a giant circle. Then pass around a microphone inviting everyone to take part in telling a story. Start it off with something like, “Once upon a time there was a magical school…” Make sure to have someone record the story, then transcribe it and create a PDF booklet to share with families later on!
Reward Days/Fundraising:
Creativity and Innovation Day
(April 21)
Celebrate creativity while raising funds for your school by pairing a movie screening with a Creativity Auction! Ask students to donate their skills and talents to the fair – i.e. pieces of art, a private piano concert, personalized poetry gift, etc. – then have parents and the community bid on items as part of a silent auction.
Seasonal:
Earth Day (April 22)
A school garden is a great way to teach students not only about the importance of nutrition and where they’re food comes from, but also about science, math and business. And nonprofits who help start community gardens in low-income schools nationwide have reported that, on average, the school’s overall standardized test scores improve, engagement increases and less teacher turnover. Bring all these benefits to your school by launching a learning garden this Earth Day.
